Libby's Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation was formed in 2007 just a year after Robin and Marty lost their mom, Libby Maynard to Stage IV Breast Cancer. ( Libby would never say she lost her battle, she would say she WON her trip to heaven!)
Libby Maynard was full of fun, faith and courage and we hope to embody her spirit through this foundation by being secure enough to be vulnerable, strong enough to be gentle, wise enough to be humble, and powerful enough to serve others!

Keeping with the mission of Libby's Legacy, we assign advocates who help Stage IV Breast Cancer patients, giving them the gift of TIME! Libby's Legacy kicks off the partnership by assigning a patient advocate and then sends those Stage IV patients on a week long trip on the Alaskan Cruise Libby always wanted to take!
"It's been amazing, it's like my mom gets to experience Alaska—through the eyes and laughter of others. We've sent 5 families to date and the pictures and stories are truly inspiring" - Robin Maynard, Founder

When one of our Clients is diagnosed with breast cancer and faces the uncertainty of the journey ahead, they are assigned a PAL, a Hope Coach to stand by them, to navigate the healthcare system to assure they have access to treatment and surgery. This is our commitment to those diagnosed through Libby's Legacy from a mammogram through your last chemo treatment!
Rock Pink has done it again! They have donated another $3325 to Libby's Legacy, bringing their support to $23325 for the year. They saw all of the women on our Hope Tree and granted ALL of their services! This awesome group has already helped us diagnose three women with early stage breast cancer with their donations!
Thank you ROCK PINK, YOU ROCK!
Libby's Legacy has received 2 amazing grants from the Susan G. Komen Central Florida Affiliatw. They have seen the value in our programs and the impact in our community and has awarded a $50,000 grant for the Cancer Screening Initiative: 40 to life program and a $40,000 grant for the brand new MAP ( Mammogram Access Project!) These funds will allow us to provide mammograms and diagnostic follow ups to underinsured, underserved women ages 40-49 in the Central Florida Community. Thank you Komen Central Florida!
Our Sweet Ellen, our amazing Survivor, Warrior and Friend found out on Monday (Nov 1) that the cancer was in fact trying to rear it's ugly head again, this time by a few more spots in the lung. Dr. Reynolds informed her that chemo needed to start again...now. On Wednesday Ellen went for her newest round of chemo. In true Ellen form as we talked over breakfast, she joked about what a waste of money shampoo and products were anyway. Ellen decided she was in control, not cancer and SHE would decide when her hair was coming off. I asked her if she remembered when my Mom shaved her head because I was out of town and had wished I could have done it. ( Ellen and Libby were angel sisters as they liked to call themselves ) ....long story short, Ellen offered me the opportunity that I had missed with my Mom. Ellen is AMAZING, she will make lemonade with whatever lemons life hands her and she is truly my Angel here on earth. We had a blast, I don't think the Hair Cuttery will ever be the same! With your new G.I Jane look, you are ready for this new round - you've won every one already! I Love you Ellen and you rock the bald with conviction - you are truly bald and BEAUTIFUL! --- Robin

Let me introduce you to the most amazing woman my sister and I have ever known...
Our Mom, Libby Maynard, was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2005 and endured a double mastectomy, chemo and radiation. Her attitude was amazing. She always had a smile on her face and had the most positive outlook even in the face of her own diagnosis. She had more faith than anyone we've ever known! She made it through her initial treatments and then was informed that the cancer was back in September of 2005. In January 2006, after more chemo, the doctor said the average woman in her condition lived three to five years. He told her to go do all the things she ever wanted to do. She didn't accept this opinion, of course, and with a smile on her face, said "Well, that's the average woman, and there's nothing average about me!".
My Sister, Marty and I asked our Mom what she always wanted to do but hadn't yet. She wanted to cruise to Alaska and she always wanted to see Italy. The cruise was planned for May.
She passed away 6 weeks later on February 28, 2006.
Our mom was FUN. Our mom was strong. Our mom raised us to make a difference in this world and that's just what we intend to do!
